The US Capital

Tee: KSUBI Shorts: Zara Plaid Shirt: TNA Sandals: Birkenstocks
Watch: Michael Kors Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Necklaces: ALDO

OMG I cannot believe my dreams came true last night and personally met Rih! haha Not!

It's the second day of our trip and we spared no time touring the city like real tourists. Started off by hopping on the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tours and riding it around town, exploring the most popular and enticing places one can go to in Washington DC.  It was exhilarating finding myself in Arlington Memorial Cemetery once again. It really just brought back great childhood memories; I remember the first time I visited Washington, almost 16 years ago.

Although they have since repaired, made improvements, and added some great addition to the monuments, memorials and attractions, I was fortunate enough to be able to visit DC again for a second time. What made this even more special was the fact that I had the chance to share these precious moments with my niece, Kianna.

In addition to walking for hours on in, hopping on the bus and exploring various sites; we also  visited the famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, took a scenic cruise on the river and participated in a very gratifying and informational night tour. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable with the ability to deliver great information in a very entertaining way. I particularly enjoyed the memorial dedicated to Franklin D. Roosevelt, where they had four instalments, depicting the highlights of each time he was in office for the US presidency.

Exploring Old Town Alexandria

Top: ZARA Shorts: American Apparel Bag: Rebecca Minkoff
Shoes: TOPMAN Cuff: Hudson's Bay

Road trips could be so much fun. Today, our estimated eight hour road trip turned in an eleven car ride, that felt like forever. Being welcomed with unexpected traffic and having to make several stops, I could not help but feel restless in the car. I drove for almost seven hours and required multiple cups of iced coffee,  a hefty playlist I can sing and dance to.

CPFW 2014

This post is long overdue. Back in June, I had the pleasure of working for CPFW, Canada Philippine Fashion Week.  A week long event, showcasing amazing,  talented Filipino designers from the Philippines. Their work are incredible and some of their creations just took my breath away. It was truly an honour being able to work with the designers side by side, from unpacking the garments to fittings, to working backstage during the show.

My First Camping Trip

I never liked the idea of camping. The thought of sleeping on the ground, even with an air mattresses, when I know I can comfortably sleep in my own bed, just didn't sound enticing to me. The notion of bugs and insects being present 24/7, made camping even more unappealing. But this year, I decided to take a leap of faith and join the 2nd Annual Divuh's Camping Trip. And it was a very wise decision because on this trip, I experienced firsthand the best, and worst possible scenarios that can occur, during a camping trip.

Me and My Issues

ASOS Jacket, American Apparel Shirt, Kill City Jeans,  ALDO Shoes,  Michael Kors Watch

In the beginning of the year, I decided to challenge myself to be more social and overall become a conversationalist. An ultimate ability to engage in a coherent conversation with strangers, without the awkwardness. Often times, I have reservations of engaging myself into a crowd, because of the fear of being judged. A common fear that everyone has but should be eliminated from our minds; because at the end of the day, we shouldn't really care what people think of us, just as long as we are happy.

Art, a Form of Self-Expression

Last night, I went to an Artist Event at the Art Gallery of Mississauga. Where the pieces for the auction are currently on display, to be admired, loved and wanted. And let me tell you, there were some beautiful pieces I would love to have, particularly this evocative painting.

Crisp White

A staple piece that any wardrobe should have is a crisp, pristine, white shirt. It is such a versatile piece to own, because it literally goes with anything and everything. Here, I paired it with  dark denim and my go-to loafers, for an easy quick outfit.

It was day 3 of Toronto fashion week and mother nature decided to be extremely generous, and gift the city with some rain. I was extremely hopeful that the weather forecast would be wrong, that was short-lived when Sabina and I had to go through buildings and walk as fast as we can to avoid getting wet.

Toronto Fashion Week: Mackage Fall 2014

Fashion week is always super busy for me–even more so this season since I intern at FLARE. I've found myself not enjoying fashion shows as much I did when I first started attending them.

Toronto Fashion Week: Day 1

Blazer: Phillip Lim for Target Shirt: J Crew Jeans: Kill City Jeans Shoes: Prada Watch: MBMJ Necklaces: ALDO and H&M

On the first day of fashion week, I decided to pay a little homage to the Canadian Tuxedo with some denim on denim. I opted for this blazer instead of a denim jacket because of the details: collarless, two-tone and the side slits.

A Trip To The Pharmacy

Our last day in New Orleans was accompanied by an occasional drizzle with gusts of wind. But nothing a good ol' umbrella couldn't handle. We decided to check out the Pharmacy Museum on Chartres St.. Initially, I expected to see voodoo related medications and remedies but to my dismay, that notion was short lived. The museum showcased different tools, instruments and medication that was used in the olden days before all the modernized technology was available.

Day 4 In New Orleans

 Beignets & Crawfish Omelette

Our day started off by heading to Cafe Beignet, along Royal St.,  a very cute Parisian-esque cafe in the French Quarter. While eating breakfast, we stumbled upon a flyer that offers a variety of tours and immediately we were drawn to the Cemetery and Voodoo walking tour. Honestly, there's no better way to learn about New Orleans' rich history and the creole culture! I would highly recommend this tour to anybody who is planning a visit to NOLA!

My Flare Adventures

Hello!

First off, I would like to apologize for disappearing and leaving the duties of updating this blog on Kenny. 2014 has been a very busy time, and I know that's no excuse but having to work seven days is extremely tiring.

~ MARDI GRAS ~

The day finally came, March 4th, it was time to celebrate what we came here for! The city of New Orleans was engulfed in the spirit of Mardi Gras. Early in the morning, a variety of costumes were spotted in the city, from face masks to more elaborate head to toe looks. Police fences and barricades were evident in the city because things were about to get crazy. And it did! The streets were filled with parade goers ready to get as many beads as humanly possible. Even though it was raining,  this hindrance did not stop people from coming out and celebrating. Trizza and I walked back to the hotel with four full bags of loot and it was all worth it.

Before The Big Day

Sweater: Wilfred Free Shorts: ZARA Boots: ALDO Bag: Louis Vuitton

The day started off with a visit from a dear friend, named Hangover. What better cure than food?! We decided to go to Cafe du Monde for breakfast to try some of their famous beignets and a much needed cup of coffee. The line up was extremely longgggg, questioning if it was even worth it. The cafe is pretty spacious with tables almost elbow to elbow, good thing the line up moved pretty quickly. A jazz duo were standing outside the cafe offering some real southern entertainment to people, while waiting to be seated. The singer's voice was soothing and ultimately making the wait more bearable.

Day 1 of New Orleans

I am finally back after such a longggg hiatus. And boy am I glad to be back! =)

I just came back from New Orleans with my friend, Trizza, where we had the pleasure of attending our very first Mardi Gras! We were welcomed by extremely friendly locals and visitors from different states and various countries . New Orleans means business with this celebration and there were no evidence of any short comings. The southern cooking was just exceptional, trying everything from crawfish to oysters and even alligator meat. Over the next few posts, I will be sharing my amazing experiences in Nawlin's on a day to day basis.

2013 Recaps

I know have been putting this 2013 Recap off for a while, as I decided to extend my vacay from blogging. But here it is...

As 2013 came to an end, I realized my year has been full of self-absorbed problems, where I thought I had the worst possible life, ever. When in reality, I am thankful for many things that I have been blessed with this past year. I will proudly acknowledge my flaws. Apart from my issues, I also experienced a lot of moments where I felt like I have reached Nirvana. I have been lucky enough to embark on some amazing adventures in the past year. I have also accomplished some of my greatest achievements. Having to cross a few hurdles, I have successfully managed to overcome some of my worst struggles.  However, I still have a shopping addiction that I keep feeding.  I had a few questionable purchases that I regret during 2013 that made me ask myself "What were you thinking?!?!". But I have also had a handful of smart buys.

Looking in the past year, I can honestly say this was not one of my best years. I felt like I had a lot of downtime where I could have spent my time more wisely. Realizing these opportunities will allow me to improve myself, to better myself for next year. To a more promising 2014.  *fingers crossed*
