Exploring Old Town Alexandria

Top: ZARA Shorts: American Apparel Bag: Rebecca Minkoff
Shoes: TOPMAN Cuff: Hudson's Bay

Road trips could be so much fun. Today, our estimated eight hour road trip turned in an eleven car ride, that felt like forever. Being welcomed with unexpected traffic and having to make several stops, I could not help but feel restless in the car. I drove for almost seven hours and required multiple cups of iced coffee,  a hefty playlist I can sing and dance to.

A Trip To The Pharmacy

Our last day in New Orleans was accompanied by an occasional drizzle with gusts of wind. But nothing a good ol' umbrella couldn't handle. We decided to check out the Pharmacy Museum on Chartres St.. Initially, I expected to see voodoo related medications and remedies but to my dismay, that notion was short lived. The museum showcased different tools, instruments and medication that was used in the olden days before all the modernized technology was available.

Day 4 In New Orleans

 Beignets & Crawfish Omelette

Our day started off by heading to Cafe Beignet, along Royal St.,  a very cute Parisian-esque cafe in the French Quarter. While eating breakfast, we stumbled upon a flyer that offers a variety of tours and immediately we were drawn to the Cemetery and Voodoo walking tour. Honestly, there's no better way to learn about New Orleans' rich history and the creole culture! I would highly recommend this tour to anybody who is planning a visit to NOLA!

~ MARDI GRAS ~

The day finally came, March 4th, it was time to celebrate what we came here for! The city of New Orleans was engulfed in the spirit of Mardi Gras. Early in the morning, a variety of costumes were spotted in the city, from face masks to more elaborate head to toe looks. Police fences and barricades were evident in the city because things were about to get crazy. And it did! The streets were filled with parade goers ready to get as many beads as humanly possible. Even though it was raining,  this hindrance did not stop people from coming out and celebrating. Trizza and I walked back to the hotel with four full bags of loot and it was all worth it.

Before The Big Day

Sweater: Wilfred Free Shorts: ZARA Boots: ALDO Bag: Louis Vuitton

The day started off with a visit from a dear friend, named Hangover. What better cure than food?! We decided to go to Cafe du Monde for breakfast to try some of their famous beignets and a much needed cup of coffee. The line up was extremely longgggg, questioning if it was even worth it. The cafe is pretty spacious with tables almost elbow to elbow, good thing the line up moved pretty quickly. A jazz duo were standing outside the cafe offering some real southern entertainment to people, while waiting to be seated. The singer's voice was soothing and ultimately making the wait more bearable.

Day 1 of New Orleans

I am finally back after such a longggg hiatus. And boy am I glad to be back! =)

I just came back from New Orleans with my friend, Trizza, where we had the pleasure of attending our very first Mardi Gras! We were welcomed by extremely friendly locals and visitors from different states and various countries . New Orleans means business with this celebration and there were no evidence of any short comings. The southern cooking was just exceptional, trying everything from crawfish to oysters and even alligator meat. Over the next few posts, I will be sharing my amazing experiences in Nawlin's on a day to day basis.
